Get out today. It’s a gorgeous life we live. Quick update. (edit: Maybe not so quick…)

I cleaned this tumblr out a bit because we had to do a little announcement about our new record. It looks more or less the same but I deleted some irrelevant stuff and I think this theme is easier to deal with. Basically lots of shit has been up. We now have a new drummer, Chris Mala. Call him the Mallard. He also plays in Heavy Breath and Hostage Calm so it’s been a bit hectic but we love him and those bands too so it’s cool. No beef. Just good old American rock ‘n’ roll music. We also have a new record completed and thats why I was compelled to fix this tumblr.

Basically we have a whole new record all written and ready to be recorded. Full length, going all the way. Its 12 songs (but really 11 because one is an intro and that doesn’t really count). We like it. So much in fact that we got in touch with Jay Maas (the genius behind Defeater) to be the dude to record it. We had this week and a few days next week booked up with him and we headed up to MA. We get there, we’re all vibing and we mapped out tempos and did some scratch tracks to get ready for drums the next day. Lost of setting up and all that kind of pain in the ass stuff you gotta do if you wanna do a record right. And Jay is a professional real-ass dude so we got down to business. Niles his dog is also a professional real-ass dude who kept us company while gearing up for the 10 days we booked. So we leave after having a pretty good first day with high hopes for the rest of the weeks to come.

Now the main reason this is getting posted isn’t just to be like “…well yeah now were doing it in September. There ya go.” That would be a little vague and lame of us. We wanted to offer a little explanation to why this is happening. There are some people and friends who are very excited for us, so we figure we owe the few people that know and care about this band a breakdown of our situation.

Vin (vocals and guitar) and I (me being Alex - also vocals and guitar) being cousins and all have an uncle who lives in Gloucester MA, which is like a half hour from Jay’s studio. We drove there after the first day pretty exhausted and had a bite to eat and chilled for a bit before crashing. Me and Pat (bass) went to basement with a couple sleeping bags, and Vin hit up the guest bedroom in the house. We all pass out. Or so we thought.

Me and Pat woke up to a slightly delirious sounding Vin wandering down the basement stairs, and flicking on a light, he mentioned to us he was seeing things and having weird visions. We were still groggy and were like “…what dude… go to sleep.” But he insisted and we asked if he felt like he had a fever and he said no and we checked and he was physically all good. But he was out of it mentally and he said he hadn’t slept in the past few days and every time he closed his eyes he was seeing weird things. He couldn’t describe them but was freaked out by them a lot, so Pat and I got up and we were trying to talk it out with him. Now, without getting to into this whole situation and being a bad best friend to Vin and telling people things he should tell them himself when hes ready (and also kind of ruining the climax of this story… sorry… but this isn’t a story for you guys it’s just an explanation), I’ll just say that Pat and I decided we had to bail on this record because we were really scared for Vin. We wanted to get him home to a Doctor. We offered to take him home right then and there at 2 or 3 AM, or whatever time it was, but he insisted we wait out the night. He actually wanted to stay and try and do the record, but we couldn’t let that happen. It was bad, worse than it sounds on here. No regrets, a friend’s health is way more important than a record. And we are very glad that Jay understood that. Given his situation, he could’ve been totally within his right to be a stickler about the financial end, but cut us a break. And we are very grateful to Jay. Best dude. Vin basically had a mental breakdown that prevented him from being able to function while we recorded. And we didn’t wanna jeopardize his health.

So there ya go. Our record will be done with Jay, at the end of September. He’ll be fresh off his honeymoon and will have a motherfucking ring on his finger (CONGRATS!!). Vin is OK too now, so that’s great. He had an appointment yesterday, and I need to call him today. Maybe we will post more about this, maybe this is it, but for the TLDR people, our recording time is postponed, but it’s getting done very soon. And it will rip. Hard. We love you all!! Have a killer summer and also come see us at the Space in CT on August 5th. Here’s a link to the FB page: FAKE PROBLEMS, THE SWELLERS, DAYTRADER, KIDS ICARUS AND DEADLIGHTS . Also check out MANIC PRODUCTIONS for rad shows. Mark is a good kid doing awesome shit. Support it.

xoxo - Alex, Vin, Pat, Chris.

P.S. Vin mentioned that he didn’t want people to be like “oh shit he’s crazy,” or “what assholes trying to get cred for this,” or think we were like trying to “exploit” this situation. We aren’t. Vin is usually a super healthy kid, and sometimes people just lose it for a sec due to any number of any reasons. We just think we owe the couple kids who care about us a legit explanation. Cuz we care about you guys too. Thanks!! See you soon.
